presumptions (e.g. about the time, the ball travels through the air) and their failure are part of the game.
at the beginning both play their match and the computer listens and makes his presumptions about when the ball would be hit.
after a while he starts contributing pitches derived from the difference between his presumptions and the real game.
in the third part, both players try to match the computers presumptions, striving to minimise pitch deviations.
